Saint John and Saint Philip

Counselling

The St. John and St. Philip Counselling Service was established in 1989 for the English-speaking community. We see Christians and non-Christians alike.

Counselling is a special type of caring relationship, which assumes that the person coming for help retains the responsibility for the problem, and has the ability to make decisions and take actions as necessary. It involves talking about your problems in confidence, to someone who will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, in order to bring a new understanding. You can then go on either to resolve the problem or to cope better with your situation. The counsellor listens carefully, accepts you as you are with understanding, combined with the extra skills of focusing, challenging, goal-setting and problem solving as required.

No charge is made for counselling. However, we would be grateful for donations, and suggest €25 per session (less if you are unwaged), which would help towards covering the cost of supervision from a clinical psychologist. We do not see anyone under the age of 18 years.

We work to the Ethical Guidelines set out by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
